  • Heatstroke
  • Complications from pregnancy or birth
  • Seizures
  • Bleeding from bites or other wounds
  • Injuries from vehicle interactions or falls
  • Ingestion of poisonous or toxic substances including household chemicals, antifreeze, or toxic plants
  • Respiratory and digestive emergencies
  • Signs of pain including whining and shaking

Our Care Begins the Minute You Arrive

At Crossroads Animal Emergency, we know that you and your pet are scared, and we’re here to help you with your concerns.  From the moment you are greeted by our friendly, caring staff at our Huntington Beach or Norwalk facilities, you can be assured that we understand how much the well-being and comfort of your pet means to you.   Patients are evaluated based on the nature and severity of the emergency.  Some animals will receive priority care depending on their condition and whether life-saving measures are required.

A thorough examination is performed by our expert emergency veterinarians, and recommendations made for necessary tests are communicated between doctor and pet owner. Because time is critical in emergencies, we have an in-house laboratory and the latest digital X-ray so our doctors can quickly and accurately diagnose your pet’s condition.

Once the diagnosis is made, a treatment plan can be developed.  If your pet requires a fairly quick, non-surgical procedure, we can perform the necessary treatment.  Once your pet begins to recover, you may be able to continue home care.  Our staff will instruct you how to do this.

Some pets may require more extensive procedures, and our staff is equipped to handle these.  We begin immediately while the pet’s owner stays in our comfortable lobby.  We provide snacks and entertainment to help pass the time.

Throughout any procedure, we make sure that pet owners are informed.  Some pets may require an overnight stay for observation or surgery, and we provide nighttime and weekend care until pets can be released to finish their recuperation at home.
